Who impresses you?

Dignitaries can be impressive;
Likewise, movie stars.
Elvis was king of rock and roll;
Ford became famous for his cars.
Now the list includes several thousand.
Who are besieged, by many thousand of others;
All wanting autographs or photographs;
Supposedly, for their sisters or brothers.
Why are these people sought after?
Are they better than you and I?
Can they make a blind see, or the lame walk;
Or have they found a way not to die?
All to often we get off the path.
Searching for fortune or fame.
Or seeking out, those who have made it;
Those who excel at winning the game.
Now there is one, on whom we should focus;
One who stays with us, all through the age;
One who is perfect, and righteous, in all that He is;
And would see us as wretched, if measured by His gage.
Will we be impressed when we meet Him?
For He surely towers above, all things.
Yes; we will find, that those who impressed us before,
Shall be as dung, when we stand before the King,
Of all Kings?
