Stand With Israel
By Dan Benzvi
"Then the LORD spoke to Moses: Say further to the Israelites people 'Anyone among the Israelites, or among the strangers residing in Israel, who gives any of his offspring to Molech, shall be put to death; The people of the land shall pelt him with stones. And I will set my face against that man and will cut him off from among his people, because he gave of his offspring to Molech and so defiled my sanctuary and profaned my holy name. And if the people of the land should shut their eyes to that man when he gives his offspring Molech, and should not put him to death, I myself will set my face against that man and his kin, and will cut off from among their people both him and all who follow him in going astray after Molech.'" (Leviticus 20:1-5)
In no uncertain terms does Hashem allow human sacrifice? Here Hashem is warning not only the Israelites, but also the strangers who dwell in Israel. He warns “don’t give your children to this foreign god Molech.” This was necessary because some ancient civilizations actually practiced this abomination. They raised certain children for one thing only, prepare them for slaughter. (Some future!)
As I was reading these verses the other day, this reality came to mind; thousands of years later there still exist a society that continues the same despicable practice, sacrificing their children to Molech. Only, their name for him is Allah. How disturbing it is to watch mothers rejoicing after their children blow themselves up, and in the process taking with them the lives of many innocent men, women and children.
In the last fifty years the world has advanced technologically in leaps and bounds. But at the same time humanity seems to be limping backwards. Some fifty five years ago, when I was five, my mother and I were riding a bus to another town in Israel. During the trip we were forced to jump off the bus and take cover in a near by ditch because some Arabs were shooting at the bus. Today it's different; the terrorists blow up the buses instead! Human life must be very cheap in their society. What kind of twisted mind can raise a child and give him to Molech?
When one's ability to think for oneself is taken away by the devices of a murderous terrorist, something must be warped in that society. If these parents of those so-called "martyrs" will call Arafat's bluff by asking him to strap on a dynamite belt and blow himself up for the sake of the "cause", what do you think his answer will be?
When hatred is taught in schools society is dead and Molech is rejoicing.
